Join Troop 792 starts by filling out the BSA Scouts Youth application.  https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/524-406.pdf

Please read through the above application.  Fill out the Youth and Parent/Guardian sections.  Note that the PDF is pre-checked for Scout Life Magazine (+$15), please uncheck if do not want the Scout Life Magazine

Scout fees are paid paid annually based on the date of first joining Scouting.  We accept checks, cash, Venmo, and PayPal....contact us for info.

The following fees are for 2024.

• New Scout  - $225   (+$15 for Scout Life magazine)

• Continuing Scout - $200 (+$15 for Scout Life magazine)

• AOL Cub Scout transitioning from a Pack - $50

Scout fees cover BSA Scout fees, BSA Scout insurance, and Troop fees

Troop fees cover the following:

• Initial items when joining (Printed Scout book,  Troop 792 neckerchief, Troop 792 patch, Patrol patch, Green shoulder loops, Black Troop T-shirt)

• Youth awards

• Troop supplies

• Adult leader fees

• Food at select events

The following is a list of the required uniform. It is best purchased by going in person to the Scout Shop in San Jose to try on shirts/pants, but they can be purchased online at Scoutshop.org. For younger scouts, consider buying shirts/pants 1-2 sizes larger so they can get a few years out of the clothes.

• Tan Scouts BSA shirt with Silicon  Valley Monterey Bay Council Patch ~$60

• Troop 792 neckerchief - provided with Troop fees

• Troop 792 patch - provided with Troop fees

• Patrol patch - provided with Troop fees

• Green shoulder loops - provided with Troop fees

• Merit badge Sash ~$15

• Green Scout Belt ~$20

• Black Troop T-shirt - provided with Troop fees

Optional uniform items encouraged but not required by Troop 792

• Green Scout pants ~$60

• Green Scout hat ~$25

• Scout socks ~$11

Patches will need to be attached to both the uniform and sash.  Some patches like Rank and Scout Position will need be changed. It is recommended to sew patches rather than gluing or Velcro. Some dry cleaners and embroidery shops can sew patches in addition the the Scout Shop.

Scoutbook.org is the Scouts BSA website used for troop calendar and tracking advancement. Once we receive your Youth Application, we will create your account and you will receive an email to log in.  You can then add other family member and your scout's email so that they can receive email communications and meeting reminders.  There is also an  Android and Apple app.

This is essential to not only the success of the Troop, but also to that of your Scout. Every parent needs to participate. Not everyone can put in the same number of hours, but everyone needs to volunteer.  There are a variety of volunteer needs ranging from adult leader roles to event planning to helping bring supplies to activities. Please ask what you can do to help deliver a great program for our youth.
